Long wait, then cold food served
We visited Hooters Umhlanga for lunch on Wednesday, 22 December 2021. We were in Durban for the December holidays and Hooters is always a mandatory visit for us, but sadly, no more.
As we entered, we were promptly seated and attended to. Our orders were taken and our son was treated to a coloring-in page and crayons. We ordered 2 items: 6-piece boneless wings and 10-piece Daytona wings. We then waited, and waited, and waited.
After about 45 minutes my wife pleaded with the hostess for our son's 6-piece boneless wings to be fast-tracked, as he (and we) were starving. His food arrived 5 minutes later. After another 30 minutes, our Daytona wings arrived, cold.
We sent it back to be warmed, and a little while later we were served, with 7 wings 😐. The hostess was clueless and called the manager. The manager listened, explained argumentatively that this must be the wrong order and had been mixed up with the 10-piece dish we had sent back (as if we had caused the mixup), but then proceeded to rectify the problem.
We started eating the 7-piece dish we had been served (as we were starving). As we were finishing the 7-piece dish, a 6-piece dish of boneless wings arrived, together with a 10-piece dish of Daytona wings, as we had ordered.
When the bill arrived, we found that we had not been charged for the 7-piece dish we had been served in error, which was their saving grace on this visit. However this was too little, too late, as we had already spent the better part of 2 hours waiting and hungry.
We will not be back here any time soon, and would advise others to also give this one a skip, in favour of any of the numerous dining establishments that can be found in Umhlanga.
