********* and Unprofessional Conduct : Battery not Orginal!
In 2013, I purchased a Honda Accord, with a 5 year Motor Plan, from Honda Midrand.
In about December 2016, still on a Motor Plan, the battery was replaced.
In January 2019, I started experiencing problems with the battery. With the intention of replacing the battery two weeks ago I went to a battery center. The battery specialist advised the battery was not the original Honda battery that came with the new car. At that point I then actually realized that was the case, as I never really paid attention the replaced battery.
I called Motor rite and they advised that ordinarily they would have replaced the battery with the original had Honda Midrand invoiced as such. I queried this with Honda Midrand, spoked to the Principal Dealer, Gawie, who insists that he will not replace the battery. My contention is that the vehicle was on a Motor Plan and they should have replaced the battery with the original that came with the car. Gawie’s argument is that the original battery is too expensive. In turn, I argued that Honda does not pay for the battery, Motor rite does. He does not understand this! In any case, I would argue that the Dealer should have advised me first if they intended to install a cheaper battery. The Top brands, BMW, Mercedes. Lexus would not do something like this! If you are considering Honda, then beware!
My point is, what is Honda Midrand’s interest in using cheaper batteries when the car is on a Motor Plan? They are not paying. This is unprofessional and ********* I think In addition, Gawie is very abrupt, dismissive and unprofessional in the manner that he has addressed this issue.
