Complaint - Honda Rivonia puts people's lives at risk

I have a 2014 Honda Brio Amaze which I purchased new, and was serviced a few months ago by Honda Rivonia. Last week Thursday and Friday, something did not feel right with my breaks, it seemed like they were not releasing properly. On Saturday morning, while driving on the highway, I had to make an emergency stop at Safety Break and Clutch in Randburg as my breaks were seizing up.

When I arrived at Safety Break, the shop manager opened the brake fluid tank and discovered that there was oil in the main reservoir! As a result, the main cylinder has to be replaced which will land up costing me +R4000. I had to leave my car there as it was too dangerous to drive as it was. They are also currently checking if the oil has gone into my entire breaking system and damage all the rubber seals. If this has happened, then it will cost me even more.

My concern is how did oil land up in my breaking system? The last people to open my car’s bonnet was Honda Rivonia. This service was my last under my extended service plan with Honda. I am also the only person to drive my car since the service and I have not opened that bonnet for anyone! It is only obvious to conclude that they *****ed up by filling my breaking system reservoir with oil instead of break fluid!

So now based on Honda Rivonia service department’s incompetence, I have to pay out a big lump sum of cash to get someone else to fix their mess up!

I feel that these sort of mistakes are unacceptable, especially when it is my and my family’s safety that is jeopardised. I would hate to imagine what would have happened if I was driving on the highway and my breaks had to seize and clamp up!

I trust that Honda will do a full investigation and respond to me as to what course of action will be taken to rectify this situation.
