Homii Valencia a Health hazard!!!

Homii Valencia in Cape Town 53 commercial street subjects their tenants to live in apartments with little to no ventilation. In sharing apartments when one person is sick everyone one falls sick as well. This is very unsafe and a threat to many people’s health. People develop skin conditions when they move in here because they don’t bother to give you a new mattress protector nor do they clean and sanitise the bed for you. They barely fumigate in a proper manner as a result the building is buzzing with ****roaches. There are more than 200 occupants in Homii, yet out of the 3 washing machines only two is working plus 3 dryers. It is a big struggle and inconvenience every time someone decides to do their laundry because of how long you have to wait. A year has passed with the number of occupants continuously increasing while the number of washing facilities remain the same. The quality of the lifts here is extremely poor and as a result people are scared of taking the lift because of multiple instances that have happened in the lift that have caused them trauma. When you raise a complaint Homii people take long to attend to the matter or sometimes they don’t at all and all of this is happening while each and every two months they raise the rent for new tenants moving in and now introducing a staggering amount of annual rent increase of more than 25 percent for their residents. As far as I know no one has signed a document that makes them liable to pay kind of an increase but it seems like Homii is enforcing it while many residents are enraged and are feeling a sense of helplessness at the same time.
