Unauthorised & Incorrect Debit – Immediate Refund Required
omeChoice’s handling of my account has been completely unacceptable.
For days, I received emails and SMSs stating that debit orders failed due to “insufficient funds.” This is false. My account consistently had R10,000–R11,000 available. There was never a shortage of funds.
Despite this, today HomeChoice deducted R1.70 from my account instead of the agreed monthly amount of approximately R500. This deduction makes no sense, was not authorised in this manner, and clearly reflects a serious system or mandate failure on their side.
This situation has caused financial and emotional distress, as these funds were allocated for an important personal commitment. Customers should not suffer because of HomeChoice’s internal errors.
I am demanding: • An immediate refund of the incorrect debit • A written explanation of how this error occurred • Confirmation that no further incorrect or unauthorised deductions will take place
Until this is resolved, I consider this matter mishandled and unprofessional. HomeChoice cannot be trusted to manage debit orders responsibly.
They claimed my debit orders failed due to “insufficient funds” when my account had more than enough money. Then, without explanation or consent, they deducted a random amount (R1.70) instead of the agreed monthly debit. That is not normal, transparent, or acceptable business practice.
When a company:
- Gives false reasons for failed debits
- Makes incorrect or unexplained deductions
- Fails to communicate or take accountability
