Truck with my order apparently hi-jacked, then my credit gets reduced by half and order cancelled

I am very disappointed in the service I have received.

I ordered and was approved for the Caribbean bedroom set 3 weeks ago for R3499 and when the order was finally dispatched, I get a call from a call centre agent to say that the truck carrying my bedroom suite was apparently hi-jacked. I was then told that I can either wait for stock to come in as Homechoice is out of stock of that item or I can order something else at the same price. I told the agent I would think about it as I would still prefer the original set I ordered and was approved for.

Next thing I log into my account only to see the order was cancelled on my behalf, before me even confirming if I wanted to wait for new stock to come in.

I called Homechoice and the agent seemed surprised around the fact that the truck had been hi-jacked. I then told her as well that my credit had suddenly decreased to only R1300. The agent kept me holding for about 6 minutes before telling me “I chatted to our accounts department and they confirmed that your credit will update to the original amount within 48 hours, can I take your number so I can call you on Monday and you can place another order for the original amount”.

I received no call on Monday and saw my credit was still only R1300. I called Homechoice again and got told by another agent that my credit must have updated as I must have fallen into arrears with an account. I then asked to chat to a supervisor and she confirmed the same and that the other agent who said my account would be updated to the original amount was incorrect.

I am not taking this lightly as the agreement and order was for R3499 and now suddenly because the truck with my stuff got hi-jacked, I am being penalised. I should be able to purchase for the original amount agreed upon.

Homechoice is in breach of agreement! I expect this matter to be resolved and taken seriously and my original credit to be upheld.
