SMS SPAM
I am so tired of receiving SMS messages from Homechoice especially in the middle of the night. Why would Homechoice think that by waking me up in the middle of the night, I would be inclined to buy anything from your company? Here's a news flash! It has the opposite effect. Load shedding is playing havoc with cellular phone towers. Messages are all delivered when the network comes back on line. PLEASE REMOVE MY CONTACT DETAILS FROM YOUR SERVER. I choose not to deal with your company, not now and not in the future. Thank you PS my name is not Lawrence! Your SMSs start with “Hi Lawrence”.

06 Mar 2023, 17:04Ok so now I am being hounded by Lee-Ann Petersen, Customer Success Specialist at Homechoice via email, which I have now blocked.
Lee-Ann Petersen cannot understand why if Homechoice send their SMS texts are “only sent during business hours” why am I getting them in the middle of the night and at early hours of the morning.
Clearly Lee-Ann Petersen did not read this post or if so, did not take note of “Load shedding is playing havoc with cellular phone towers. MESSAGES ARE ALL DELIVERED WHEN THE NETWORK COMES BACK ON LINE.”
It has nothing to do when the SMS text is sent. Instead of the emails back and forth, I suggested that Lee-Ann Petersen phone me. But that did not happen.
So below is the explanation.

So below is the explanation.
I live in a small village in the Karoo. When the power goes off [load shedding] the cellular network goes down. Clearly my service provider has given up replacing batteries. It sometimes takes up to 12 hours for the network to go up again. Any SMS text sent for example at 14h00 [during one of the 12h00-16h30 blackouts] might only be delivered at 02h00 the next morning, when the network comes back on line.
We have 4 ½ hours blackouts when Eskom is on any stage above 4.
