Poor delivery communication

The delivery service is really disappointing,after placing an order for delivery I received an sms that my order would be delivered within the next few days and the couriers would be in contact. I received no contact from the couriers except when they were at my gate.I received a call from the security guards informing me that homechoice is here for delivery, and asked them to tall them that I'll be home in 15 minutes. The delivery person then called me asking me where I am and how long it would take me to get home as he has a lot of deliveries to make. I then told the courier person that I received no information from the couriers as to when they would come and that I cannot be at home 24/7 until the delivery comes. He could call me when he was at the gate but failed to call in the morning informing me that my parcel will be delivered on that day. Furthermore he said that this isn't the first time that this happens because with a previous order I also was not home when they got to the gate. I told him that the reason I'm not home is because no one has the decency to call me or inform me the dateof the deliveryso I can be home the entire day waiting for the order. I do not understand why they couriers cannot provide the date on which the parcel will be delivered. I called homechoice customer service to complain about this incident and was informed that it's very hard for the couriers to tell when they will deliver, so in other words if I place an order with homechoice I must be homebound until the delivery comes. I think this is absolute nonsense. There must be some communication regarding the delivery information.
