Homechoice refuses to either close my account or remove their ridiculous credit

I wrote a review about homechoice on the 5th of March complaining that homechoice was refusing to close my account and had on my profile given me a credit of R21 364.00 which If I utilised would not be able to repay.

I received an email from Lee-Ann Petersen who wrote they do not close customer accounts among other things. She then wrote, "In relation to your credit available of R21 364.00 with Homechoice, a request has been submitted to remove the credit." Well the credit has not been removed. I was also given the same assurance by their call centre agent that the credit would be set to zero but that also has not matirialised.

It's now clear that homechoice simply does not want to close my account and or to remove this unwanted credit even after I have made it clear I do not want the credit. This leaves me with one option which is to ask the intervention of the Courts because homechoice seems not to be taking me seriously. What they want is for me to buy so that they can make profit out of me. I do not know if there is a law in South Africa which forces companies to give credit to customers who have indicated that they do not want the credit or they simply do not have the affordability. In fact, does the law allow homechoice to keep a paid up account open even when a customer has requested that it be closed? Those are questions that should be tested in a Court of law and it's high time someone does this. If homechoice does not remove this credit within the next 48 hours then they should expect legal action to commence. I will be consulting with my lawyers on this.
