Homechoice Heater burst when switching on

My cousin ordered an Alva Electric/Gas Heater from Homechoice for me which was delivered on Saturday. When I plugged the heater on Sunday it burst and tripped my electricity. I'm now told by Home Choice that its my responsibility to send it back to them via the Post Office at my own costs. The Post Office says they charge from R300 to send the parcel back of which I do not have and I have 5 days to do it. Why doesnt Homechoice come collect it as they delivered it?
