Homechoice doesnt want to close my account

I have settled my account. I have asked them to close the account they are telling me that they can't close the account. My concern is how come cant they close the account if ever i managed to open it. Secondly i have asked them if the account wont incure costs ( interests) while open because open accounts interests will be charged.
