********** accounts and identity theft at Homechoice

To everyone here who've reported ********** accounts opened in their names. Log a dispute with all four credit bureaus. Contact the SA ***** Prevention Service *** and ask that your ID be flagged as compromised. Log a dispute with your bank and ask how the debit order was approved if not by yourself. Report Homechoice to the SA Information regulator (***) and SA Credit Ombud (***). Pull a free report from one of the credit bureaus e.g. https://www.mycreditcheck.co.za/ to ensure that nothing else has been taken out in your name. The person who stole my identity also took out an MTN contract. You'll see on the report the phone number and address that the person used to open the account. Take this information to your local SAPs and open a case. Don't phone the number - let them proceed from there. I made that mistake (without thinking it through) - the person actually answered but I wasn't prepared and ever since then phone goes straight to voicemail.

After 3 weeks of "Please note that investigations can take up to 90 days" responses, after telling them that I'd reported them to the creditombud, my dispute was resolved within 3 hours. As painful and totally inconvenient this all is, protect your identity! Something seriously dodge is going on there (if I see the number of DAILY ***** complaints), and to be honest I don't think they really care. 90 days to investigate ***** cases!! Simply unnaceptable. It's an absolute disgrace!
