Extremely Poor Service and Unresolved Issue with HomeChoice

I am deeply disappointed with the terrible service and lack of resolution from HomeChoice regarding an issue that has been ongoing for months. Despite emailing my formal complaint on 6 January 2025 and following up numerous times, I have yet to receive a proper resolution or even a callback from management, despite multiple requests.

The issue began in May 2024 when I settled my account in full and was left with a credit balance of R655.88 due to a debit order. In June 2024, I purchased the Grayson 3-pc King Duck Egg Duvet Set (Order: ***1), which was on sale for R499 or R599. Instead of deducting this amount from my credit balance, I was forced to select a payment plan option due to the outdated system, which did not allow me to use the credit on my account.

Since then, I have endured constant harassment from the debt collection department, with daily calls, despite explaining the issue countless times. Every time, I was promised an escalation that never happened. It is shocking how quickly HomeChoice’s team can contact customers for sales or arrears but utterly fail to address credit discrepancies.

The lack of proactive action from the accounts department is unacceptable. A basic review of my account history would have easily highlighted the issue. Instead, I have faced endless frustration and unprofessional behavior from call center staff, who have hung up on me mid-conversation.

To date, the following issues remain unresolved:

1. My credit balance has not been app**** to the June 2024 purchase.

2. My account continues to reflect arrears due to HomeChoice’s error.

3. No effort has been made to clear the debt or correct my account status.

I demand that HomeChoice:

Backdate the account to apply the credit balance as payment for the June 2024 purchase.

Clear any arrears or debt wrongly added to my account.

Update my account status and confirm resolution promptly.

HomeChoice’s outdated payment systems and abysmal customer service are unacceptable. If this matter is not resolved urgently, I will escalate my complaint further, including involving consumer protection authorities.

HomeChoice, you must do better.

I am extremely disappointed in the lack of response to my formal complaint, which I initially emailed on 6 January 2025 and followed up with a Hello Peter review on 30 January 2025. Despite these efforts, I have yet to receive the promised call from a manager.

To make matters worse, instead of addressing my complaint, I have now received an SMS stating that HomeChoice has reported me to the credit bureau. This is completely unacceptable, especially as my complaint remains unresolved.

I demand an urgent response from a senior representative to address:

1. The lack of communication and failure to resolve my complaint.

2. The reason for the credit bureau report and immediate steps to rectify any unfair listings.

If I do not receive a response within 48 hours, I will have no choice but to escalate this further with the National Consumer Commission, the Credit Ombud, and other relevant authorities.

I expect a prompt resolution.
