Bank statement requested without my authority

I received an sms from absa, informing me that homechoice requested my bank statements from them. I have not authorised anyone to request my bank statements from my bank. It is upsetting that people do a credit check on your name as it affects your credit score. I need an explanation. I will never buy from you again if this is what you do, requesting client information without permission.
