Attempted *****: Home Choice

Good day,

Please be advised that I received an SMS today from Home Choice (HC) informing me that "...my contact details on my account have been successfully changed, if it is not me I should call ***". I then called HC to enquire on what is going on, as I DO NOT have an account with them and have never had one.

The lady I spoke to asked me to confirm my ID number and the delivery address to which she found an account that has recent activity of contact details being changed. She informed me that most probably the person who changed my supposed contact details to the supposed account was attempting to activate a dormant account that I was allegedly offered by HC with a credit of +-R2500. I requested that the account be blocked to be NEVER revived again, it is very worrisome that they have personal (ID and home address) details and yet I do not have an account with them nor do I have a desire to open an account, like EVER!

HC got my details from the credit bureau to use for marketing purposes to get new clients. The only time I have ever used Experian in my personal capacity was once-off on Fri, Aug 24, 2012, 7:13 PM, and have since opened an account with myTransunion. I read the news and am aware of the Experian data leak drama and have Ccd Hollard Legal as I am a client for them to be aware of this should I ever require legal representation at a later stage.

Please take note of the below - 1. SMS received: 25th Aug. 2020 @ +-13:20 2. Call to HC: 25th Aug. 2020 @ +-13:22 (5 min, 28 sec) 3. HC consultant: Nolusindiso 4. Call *** (not picked up by Elize) 5. I called the number just wanting to hear the voice of the person who thinks I will be an easy target. 8. Call to HC: 25th Aug. 2020 @ +-13:22 (7 min, 42 sec) 9. HC consultant: Elize 10. Call *** 11. Action taken: She made a note that possible ***** has been attempted with the account and flagged it I look forward to hearing from both HC and Experian confirming that this attempted ***** in my name has been resolved and that the so-called account has been closed PERMANENTLY.
