Account **********ly Opened, and ********** Information About Myself Withheld From Me

On the 29th March around 12:52 I began to receive an sms stating "Your HomeChoice banking details have been updated as per your request.... Ref:*********", then received another sms from my bank stating that "Absa has received a request from HomeChoice to disclose your bank statements" and also received an email from Absa stating the same.

Out of shock, I firstly called Absa for ***** and they cancelled the statements. Then after I called HomeChoice to alert them that I did not open that account. I was aided by a very helpful consultant who cancelled the two orders which were place in my name, and then proceeded to close the account.

Later on that day, I then headed to my nearest police station to open the case of *****. I was advised that I complete an affidavit stating all that happened above, of which I did, and also that I should contact HomeChoice for the information used/provided to open the account, e.g. ID doc, contract, etc, so that the police can open the case.

On the morning of the 30th March 2017 at 08:00, I called HomeChoice and I was transferred to the ***** department. Luckily the lady told that she was working with my case. I was asked to confirm my details, of which I did, and she then told me that she will write me a letter containing all the information used to open the account and that I should receive it in 15 minutes. When I received the letter, the letter only says "Please be advised that we are in the process of investigating a suspected ********** account, which was opened, utilising, Mr Leemisa Seloane, personal details. If you should have any further queries, please contact the writer hereof."

With faith I then proceeded to my nearest police station, and presented the affidavit and the letter. The police then told me that they could not open the case due to lack of supporting information. I then called HomeChoice again, requesting the information, the lady in the ***** department now says that the police officer should give them a call, mind you that no case was open. I then told her that I would try to hand the phone over to a police officer, but due to many people in the police station who came to get assistance, it became impossible. A police officer I spoke to when initially trying to open the ***** case said to me then that if I do not get the information, it can even go to the point where I would need to open a case against HomeChoice.

Then the same lady at HomChoice called me, and stated to me that the police will need to file a 205 to them, which I was told by another policeman that that this can only happen once the case is opened. I then notified the lady that I have been advised to open the case against HomeChoice, she then said that she will consult her senior and then said to me that she will give me the information. Then she changed and asked to speak to the police, and then asked me which police station I was, and said that she will be calling the police station.

Due to this whole discourse, I was not able to open the case against the perpetrators due to information not provided to me. I must say that I am appalled that I the victim am denied information which I need to make sure that a crime committed in my name gets justice and what grieves me the most is the conduct of the lady in question in regard to her shenanigans. She was not upright, she was just full of maneuvering. She even said that she would call me back, even now I am still waiting.
