I popped into @Home to buy a s****rest and notice that all the stock of the s****rests had their prices cut out of the ticket. When I asked for the price I was told R69,99. However it was clear from one of the labels that the price had been R49,99 and there was still one barcode on the shelf that showed the price at R49,99. When I asked various staff members what the the reason was for a nearly 50% increase in price, I was told it was the \new\" price. When I asked how they could justify increasing the price on a considerable amount of what was obviously old stock, cutting out the original price and increasing it at the till, I was told it was instructions from Head Office. I left a query for the Area Manager, to which I have had no response . They did offer to give me the s****rest at R49,99 but that does not resolve the issue of pricing ethics - do I want to shop at a store that would appear to be inherently dishonest in the pricing of their stock?"
