Hellish experience from @home
I have officially reached the end of the line with @home brand and the stuff.
I want to express my extreme disappointment in the manner @home is running this up to 50% sale which is to start on the 13 June and end 3 July 2019.
I received an email marked “VIP access shop before everyone else” at midday on the 12 June 2019 which informed me that I was VIP customer and that the sale had begun and I can start with my 12 hours of VIP shopping.
I went onto the website and found the wishbone dinning chairs which had been marked done from R1599 to R599 and when I tried to purchase 4 of them online the website wouldn’t let me and informed me that only in store purchases would be permitted at that point in time.
I then got into my car and drove to the @home store at Melrose arch. When I got there I was surprised to find out that the employees had no idea what sale I was referring to, let alone what items or pricing app****. They checked their system and told me that they have no idea where I’m getting this information. I then proceeded to show them the email received and website however they still couldn’t assist me. I was was merely dismissed by being told I should return the next day maybe the chair would be on sale and the price could be as I had shown them on the website.
My question to you is why would @home fabricate a sale to customers when their employees have no inclination of the so called sale, surely if the website marks an item down the employee price lists should do the same immediately, why must I ask employees to find out the price when I can clearly see the price on the website. And why must a price on the website differ to that in the shop.
Any other reputable store would have sold me the chair today as indicated on the email as I did qualify for the VIP sale. The fact that the website shows an item as on sale in store is enough for customer to purchase the item at the sale price. Your failure to update or website or price lists have nothing to do with me as a customer. Because I qualified for the VIP means I did not have to return on another day, please in future inform your employees of that fact.
It is clear you guys really have no idea how to run a promotion. Let alone what the right of a consumer are under the consumer protection act.
Please advise on the above and explain to me how this confusion among your email, in store pricing and employee awareness could be this way off.
After back and forth we with a hundred people at this institution all trying to understand the events, @hime came back with a solution to give me measly 10% discount on original price of the chairs (which is no where close to what I would have saved if they had comp**** with their ad) however it came with a catch. The items had to purchased with 7 days or the voucher wouldn’t work. I explained to them that they need to extend the voucher as it doesn’t give me enough time to get the funds considering I would be purchasing 4 chairs at R8000 Instead of the sale price of R2000
When I finally went to the shop to purchase the chairs with the voucher it did not work. I emailed @home over and over again asking why the voucher did not work and got no response.
I will no longer be returning to this shop, they have no idea how to treat customer or keep to their promises on sale items.
