@Home takes away your credit on your gift card and leaves you with nothing

Had a terrible experience at the @Home store at the Roesebank Mall today. Icame in wanting to buy a food processor/smoothie maker, with our R1,500 gift card I received for Christmas and, when the shop assistance (Lebo) swiped it, she eliminated our balance and said the balance was now zero and, as such, the gift card could not be used. What followed was a 3 hour wait in the store while the assistant tried to phone someone to sort it out without any resolution. The result was me leaving the store R1,500 poorer (no replacement credit or card was offered or given) with only a commitment from the assistance that they would update me before the close of the business day which they failed to do - shocking! Really disappointing!
