@Home is immune to the Consumer Protection Act.

In Dec'15 i purchased 8 plastic dining chairs from ********** By april the chairs appeared to be very unstable and wabbly when in use. One of the chairs started to fall apart, and the ***** fell our. In May'16 i went to the store to tell them about the unstable chairs and requested assistance. No one got back to me , and i went in again. After many follow ups, @home sent an assessor to view the chairs. I heard nothing and i once again followed up. In Aug'16 the store manager advised that according to the assesor the chairs were damaged as they were exposed to water. I advised them that the chairs are in an enclosed patio area, and no water gets to them as the area is sheltered., and nowithstanding that the chairs are made of plastic. I advised them that in terms of the CPA i was entitled to an exchange or refund as the chairs were defective. @Home clearly is above the law in that it does not need to comply with the CPA. What is odd, that after the assessors finding, they offered to replace the one chair where the ***** had fallen out- but none of the remaining 7 chairs. They accepted liability for only 1. By their own version, if the chairs were damaged due to weather, then why accept liability for only 1 defective chair, and not the rest? Its taken me over 3 months , almost R12 000 spent, and now im left with 8 defective chairs. @Home, you have displayed appaling after care to me as a long standing customer, and without doubt i will be closing my account which ive have for over 20 years.
