Swimwear Policy

I bought a bikini for one of my daughters for xmas at the new H&M store in Somerset Mall, I looked at the bottoms to gauge what size to get and did not look at the top part much. A few days later when I started wrapping presents I realised the top string around the neck looked terribly short so I took it back to exchange for a bigger size. The cashier called the manager who said I should have been made aware of their policy of no exchanges on underwear and swimwear when I purchased the item, pointing at the sign on the wall . I repeated myself three times that this costume is a xmas gift and that my daughter has not even seen it , let alone try it on. When I purchased it there was also a queue of about eight shoppers and only one cashier and this policy was not pointed out to me, (not enough cashiers is often a problem and I have walked out before because the queue is too slow) . I would have thought that the manager has the authority to make a better decision in this case instead of just staring at me and saying , "this is the policy". The item was still in the orginal shopping bag, tags on slips undisturbed.

Afterwards I went to Edgars to exchange a schoolwear swimming costume, again a judgement mistake on my part, the next size up just looked too big. I expected a problem but to my surprise it was exchanged without a word. I purchased it that morning but my daughter tried it on at home, over her panty, the plastic cover over gusset in place and thats how I exchanged it.

Its a pity that H&M can't be more flexible with their policies on kids clothes especially at Xmas time when it is obvious that the item will be given as a present and had not even been seen by the child ! Needless to say, I won't be returning to H&M any time soon!
