H&M Sandton City pick pocketers and shocking service
Yesterday while I was shopping at their Sandton city store,my bag was pick pocketed by a few ladies. I realised right after it happened (the ladies who pick pocketed me were still in the store). I quickly reported the matter to a cashier. I showed her where it happened. Clearly there were no processes in place to follow when such incidents happen as she didn't know what to do. She then asked her colleagues and they went to look at the camera footage. In a state of panick,i was just awaiting their feedback. I waited for 30 minutes then I started asking the secutity, hoping to get a better response. They took my name and alternative number(don't really know why) and then I was told that I need to be more careful. I then went to the manager, who also showed no sense of urgency and just called the workers who were "apparently looking at the footage for over 30min now". Eventually they came back and told me the footage wasn't clear but it does show a some ladies around me as I was looking at the clothes and it could have happened there. I honestly comprehend that crime happens and anyone can fall victim of it but I honestly believe had there been processes in place for when customers report crimes that just happened, ie more stringent security checks as suspect leave or something. There was no sense of urgency or panic from the employees and it looked like they didn't know what to do or how to handle the situation- retail service is not just about assisting and making a buyer's purchasing experience easier, it goes beyond that- it about the entire shopping experience from the point I walk in to the point I walk out. My shopping experience yesterday left me dumbfounded but I was even more angry about the service I received than the fact that I lost my possessions.
