BE WARY OF BUYING FROM H&M

I purchased 2 pairs of jeans at H&M Amanzintoti store early in June, both new stock that had just arrived. I tried on the jeans before purchasing and had all intention of keeping them but after trying them on again at home, I wasnt happy with the fit and decided to return them. This is the only store in KZN and it's a 240 km return trip from my home. Unfortunately I was away for 2 weeks over this period and the earliest I could get back to the store was 6 weeks from date of purchase. Since, the jeans were new stock, with all labels on and I had my receipt, I was absolutely certain that they would exchange it for merchandise to the same or greater value but NO. Their system doesn't allow it. I asked what would happen if I purchase 2 weeks ago and lost the slip and they said they would try and find the transaciton on the sytem and if they couldn't then they wouldn't exchange it. I explained that I lived far away and the assistant called the manager who very rudely told me the receipt said 30 days and that they wouldn't do an exchange for me so I walked out without purchasing anything and don't intend to purchase from them again.

I tried to phone their call centre (who hardly ever answer) and got an email back the next day saying the same thing.

Most stores will use their discretion and exchange an item to the same or greater value if it is in the same condition as when bought and not marked down, but not H&M. So beware, DO NOT BUY FROM H&M if you don't live close to the store where you can exchange it within 30 days, if be vary wary of giving a gift to someone as they will have to return it within 30 days from when YOU bought it using YOUR origianl til slips bar code and heaven forbid if you lose your til slip!!!

Quite frankly DON'T BUY FROM H&M because they are not one bit customer centric at all - just look at the posts on Hello Peter and their lack of response.
