Bosch and Sons Rosslyn Panel Beaters use non-original parts to repair my car when i clearly requested them to use genuine parts in order to retain the value of the car.
I had a car accident on the 01 August 2023, little did I know that it was going to be a long couple of months. I claimed at my insurance company which is Momentum Insurance, indeed they helped me swiftly by getting an assessor to assess the car. Momentum then told me my car will be fixed by Bosch and Sons. I questioned as to why are they only sending me to a designated panel better, shouldn’t they send request for competitive quotes? But anyway the car was towed to Bosch and Sons Rosslyn on the 15 August 2023. I was given a contract from Bosch and Sons to complete, which I did and signed it. On the contract they asked if I had warranty and I said yes I do, I also indicated that under no circumstances that Bosch and sons use aftermarket parts. I clearly indicated on page 2 that only genuine parts should be replaced on the car, but no they clearly overlooked a binding document with thorough instructions not to fit aftermarket parts which was a huge mistake. The car quotation was at R50 0000 which they also quoted for genuine parts and not aftermarket parts and then later they requested for additional parts which the quotation cost over R 63 000 and also Bosch and sons quoted genuine parts just for a vender, bumper, the grill etc. The fixing of the car took over 3 months, in those months I was the one following up on the car and i told Momentum and Bosch and sons that I’m highly inconvenienced because I don’t have other means of transportation except for public transport to take my daughter to school and go to work. Momentum requested Bosch and sons to organise a rental because my car was in their possession for over 3 months. Indeed they brought me a “courtesy car”, which is an old jalopy which the gear doesn’t go into reverse mode and also the car didn’t have a drop of petrol. That’s says a lot about their poor customer service. On the 20 October 2023 I went to Bosch and sons because I received a call that it was ready for collection.
After all of the pain and suffering I’ve experienced with Bosch and sons I knew I couldn’t trust them so I organised my own assessor to evaluate the car at their workshop and guess what they proved me right again, Bosch and sons decided to use after market parts even after momentum approved and paid for genuine parts as per their quotation. During the inspection process the only thing that was genuine it was the number plate, the vender, the bumper, the grill are all **** parts which devalued the value of my car and yet Momentum has increased my monthly premiums. The assessor found so many mistakes related to the car, they didn’t even do a wheel alignment even on the side where the impact took place. And these problems were picked up only with the naked eye. The vender was also and after market parts became it didn’t align with passenger front door, the lamp was also and after market part. Basically Bosch and Sons send a quote for R63 000 but the poor workmanship on the car and their **** parts would probably not cost more than R10 000. So are they telling me that the pocketed R50 000? Somethings do not add up, if this is how they operate then they shouldn’t be affiliated with such big insurance companies like momentum. At this point it’s the 14 November 2023, it’s four months since my car went in for repairs, Bosch and Sons it’s even threatening me to pay R250 for storage fees even after the matter was escalated at Momentum. Momentum requested for the car to be re-assessed, the assessor went to Bosch and Sons Rosslyn on the 13 November 2023, I've requested that Momentum and Net Assess should notify me when they send out their assessor because I also wanted my assessor to be present and they only responded on the 13 November in the afternoon that the assessor is at the Bosch and Sons. Today it's the 14 November 2023 and I've received the report from Net Assessor that says :
"The vehicle is repaired all in order no workmanship problem. Basically, the vehicle is ready for collection. The only problem is the client is querying about the fact that alternative parts are fitted on the vehicle and therefore the vehicle will lose value once they decide to sell it. Please note the vehicle is out of warranty and it has no extended warranty". Therefore, we allowed for alternative parts''.
Also note that Bosch and Sons emailed me a booking form whereby I've clearly stated that only genuine parts should be used for the car and if there's a need to fit aftermarket parts then I should be informed at all times. Not once was I ever informed that they're fitting aftermarket parts and my question is why did they submit a quotation with original parts, giving me the impression that they're using genuine parts?
