Worse appliances EVER!!!

Hisense H15DSS | 15 Place Dishwasher

I was elated at the prospect of finally owning a dishwasher… It wasn’t a luxury item, it was actually going to be a necessity appliance, as the kitchen we now have was built for the dishwasher, as there is only a prep bowl and no scullery. We looked online and Makro had a special and so we bit the bullet and purchased one… The machine arrived at the new property that same week. Surprised but delighted at the speed it had come, but there was no sms or phone call to notify us of the delivery. We had not moved in and there was no one at the property but we made arrangements to get there so that it could be offloaded. We moved in on the afternoon/evening of the 12th June and there was our machine all packaged in the kitchen. Well, that’s where the nightmare started!!! Monday morning first thing, my husband had arranged for a plumber to come and install the machine. We followed the instructions of putting dishwasher salt and Finish Rinse Aid into the machine and we had the Finish Tablets and awaited its first use with anticipation. Firstly, the machine does not take a standard size dinner plate as per the manual’s pictures of the astonishing number of items it can hold, as the sprayers CANNOT turn if you put dinner plates in, where the manual instructs that they go. So, we compromise the quantity we can pack, however we had bought the 16 plate model for the extra capacity it was meant to take. Anyway, we loaded what we could fit in and switched it on. We could not believe the shock and horror that awaited us in the morning!!! Not a single dish was washed, but the fan dry works wonderfully, in fact, so well that the food on the crockery and cutlery was baked onto and into the items. My once Maxwell William White dinner set now has nasty brown marks all over! So disappointedly, I unpacked the dishwasher and soaked the items for a few hours as I keep topping it up with soap and hot water to loosen the baked soiled items. The following night we started again. This time, I rinsed the dishes in hot water and packed the machine again and put it on before going to bed. In the morning, my pots had a dull white glazed look to them, none of the silverware was sparkling and the dishes have not got that crisp clean feel to them like they normally do when you take them out of a dishwasher. So disappointingly I unpacked and also noticed that things I didn’t rinse like a tea cup which was effectively clean still has the tea drop of water that had dried at the bottom of the cup now baked into the cup and the other dishes had spots of dirt, and the ashtrays that I just put in, the ash of which one can wipe off the bottom of the stainless steel dish with one’s finger still had ash on it, as I had put it in, the crockery although rinsed were still dirty. So, again I take the dishes out and now soak them. Again, I put the same dishes in but this time I put in 2 Finish tablets, due to it being a bigger machine I assume this is the problem. But it made no difference, the dishes are still filmy and baked to dull. The Eco programme runs for 3 ½ hours!!! Over the next few days I try the different programmes, try the Finish machine cleaner… but it made no difference. The pot cycle is also almost 4 hours. At this point I now start trying to get hold of Makro for a return. I call their online help centre and I’m told that we purchased online so it needs to be returned online. I go in via my husband’s mail and login. On the order they still have it as “order being processed” so I cannot request a return. So, every day I keep going in. Then after a week I then make another call to their online “help” centre, and report that I’m trying to do the return as I am not satisfied with the product, I am told that she will put in a request to get the order status updated. A week later I call as it’s still on “order being processed”. This time the consultant says that he will put in the request for me as he can see that it was requested and still not done. A week goes by and nothing. When I call again, I am told that a technician from Hisense needs to come and see the machine first before they can come and collect. After weeks of calling, emailing, and leaving whatsups, I have a breakthrough, I called and the help centre and I sat on the phone for an hour while they were contacting Hisense, and when the call ended the technician was at the gate, this was the 10th of August. He looked at the machine, turned it on and I proceeded to show him with baked food and picture of how the dishwasher “cleaned” the cutlery and crockery. I had to sign his report and off he goes. Later the week I try to contact them to find out what the progress is or what is the next procedure, but I get no response. So now await further. Then we start phoning the help centre again the following week. After several conversations that day I am told that we need to talk to the consultant at the branch from which the machine was delivered. Firstly, he rudely tells me what is wrong with the machine, why do you want to return it. He then insists that they have to get Hisense to send a technician to come and see the machine. To which I reply, as I explained to the help centre, the technician from Hisense came out last week and completed his report, I also gave her the companies name and no., to which she was going to follow up. No, they have to send someone out as they have no record of the company I am talking about, and they have not received any report. I give the branch the details of the company and the technician as well as their telephone no’s, again no feedback. I then contact the company directly and get the technical report no. and I give it to a consultant at the help centre as well as the branch. Then we wait another week. Nothing!!! So, I then contact the company and get the report details, a brand-new machine that is unrepairable. One again I contact a consultant at the help centre as well as the branch. Still nothing and no resolve. Then I start sending daily whatsups to the help centre and no one calls back. The week of the 29th I once again call the help centre as well as the branch. I am told I need to bring the machine to the branch. Well impossible, as that’s why we ordered it online because we do not have a Makro in our town, and your branch is a considerable distance from us. That afternoon they phone to say they will come and collect. On the 30th August they sent someone to collect the machine. I await a day and start again on the 1st September to find out updates. At the help centre they have no record of it being collected the last update was on the 23rd August that the machine was to be collected by the branch, and the branches response was “oh have they collected it?”. I then ask what now, when will the refund be done, I am told that I need to come to the branch and get my credit. I once again explain that we do not live anywhere near the branch. Oh, then I don’t know, I will get my manager to contact you. I phone again on the 2nd September, nothing was imputed from the day before but she can see that there was a note last week for the refund to be done. And while I wait as this help centre consultant tries to investigate as to why it has not been done already, once again, I run out of airtime. Will she call me back? I have still not heard from the manager who was going to call me yesterday. I then send a whatsup message to the speedy help centre in hopes that someone will call me back. To my amazement someone from Head Office calls me, to inform me that the refund as been done, do I know anything about it? No, and that it will reflect in the bank account 2-7 days. Well faint!!! Is this over? Am I trusting from all the brilliant speedy responses, helpfulness, or the endless promises that they will keep me informed and follow-up for me, keep in contact with me re the progress. Do I breathe a sigh of relief that this matter is now over? Or do I now just wait in anticipation for the monies to clear in my bank account before I celebrate that my dealings with Makro have finally come to an end, and to never breath their name, google their specials ever again. Look elsewhere!!! Its not worth the special!!! And Hisense will never purchase a product again of theirs ever!!!

I would like to know if we will get refunded the R300 delivery cost we were charged for the defective product delivered…. Refunded for the plumber… Refunded for the products we used on this defective machine… who will pay for the defaced crockery and cutlery…. if I will be refunded my time and if I will be refunded my airtime!!! Not only has it been an awfully frustrating experience, but it has also been a costly one, for which we have had to pick up the expenses.
