Useless Warranty - Hisense products are substandard and the warranty does not cover anything
I purchased a Hisense fridge with a 5 year warranty and now am having an issue with the gaskets which are no longer working. I purchased the fridge 2 years ago and am still within the warranty period however when reporting the issue to Hisense I have been advised that they only cover that item for 6 months in a 5 year warranty which is already provided by the CPA for every item that you purchase. According to the CPA, all items have a 6 month return policy if sub standard or malfunction occurs in the first 6 months. The gasket is not even mentioned in the warranty terms and conditions and they are trying to tell me that it is an accessory however I have done some research and would like to advise that a ''refrigerator accessory'' is an item of equipment that is NOT essential to the functioning of the refrigerator, but which can be used with or added to the refrigerator in order to make it more efficient, useful or decorative.
A refrigerator cannot function and serve its purpose without a gasket therefore, this item is not an accessory but an essential component of the refrigerator.
I am therefore inclined to advise that Hisense is fully financially responsible for the replacements of the gaskets to my unit as it is still under warranty.
Failing which, I will be reporting Hisense to the relevant authorities for breach of warranty.
Lack of professionalism also noted when handling this query and they are giving me the runaround.
The replacements gaskets also only cost R400 but I am being charged an additional R450 for labour which is a total of R850 for something that is still under warranty.
In that case, I should have just purchased a second hand fridge because the warranty is of no use as when you have issues, suppliers just advise that the item is not covered under the warranty.
