Hisense TV - oversized paperweight

My nightmare started in the beginning of October 2024 to get my 55' Hisense 55K390 FHD LED 3D SMART TELEVISION repaired after what appeared to be a software problem. Fast forward to 18 November when the television was finally collected by an agent representing Hisense. After 10 days of continuous follow ups, I was told that the motherboard had "crashed" and that the motherboard had been discontinued and therefore the television can't be repaired. A television that cost over R15,000 (granted it was 2015) is now simply a very large paper weight. Be careful and check after sales, you might get a surprise like me and be told that a component e.g., motherboard has been discontinued, leaving you too with a very large paper weight. So sad, as I had only received good reviews about Hisense products when I decided to purchase the television. Now, I'll be that guy standing at the braai and dissuading others from buying a Hisense product, instead of being that guy that advocates for the Hisense brand!
