Hisense (dumb) smart tv

Purchased a hisense 55 inch led smart tv 2 years ago from Game . The Netflix and Showmax apps no longer working. Contacted Hisense and their response is to buy an aftermarket android box. Wht should I do this? The sole reason y I bought a "smart" TV is so that I can watch Netflix without connecting extra devices. My brother has his Samsung smart tv fr over 5 years and he has no issues .
