Dishwasher baskets rusting after 1 year

We purchased a Hisense Dishwasher in December of 2023 from Makro. 1 year later and I have noted that the plastic coating on the baskets has cracked and the exposed metal underneath is now rusting. I promptly logged a ticket with HiSense and received a ticket number. After 3 days of receiving phone calls from technicians to arrange an appointment for an onsite assessment, they eventually arrived on the 3rd day. The technician advised me that the rust was caused by the salt that I using in the dishwasher and advised me that HiSense recommends that salt is not used in the machine. This was very surprising to me as the user manual states that salt must be added before first use and these are guidelines I followed. The technician then advised that he would request that both baskets are replaced and would wait on HiSense to make a decision. The assessment took place on 16 January 2024 and to date 24 January 2024, I still have not received any had any feedback from HiSense. I emailed on 22 January 2024 and received no response, I made a telephonic follow up on 23 January 2024 and was told that I could expect feedback by end of day, on 24 January 2024 I contacted the contact centre again and was very unprofessionally assisted by an agent who was very annoyed with the questions I asked and advised that they were still waiting on the technicians report and photos. I’m disappointed to say the least as the product was used in line with the manufacturer guidelines and just over a year later the baskets are rusting. This leads me to wonder what else could be and is rusting in the rest of the machine if the baskets are both rusting a year later. I also find it hard to believe that salt usage in the dishwasher can lead to the plastic coating cracking on the baskets. I’ve always been a fan of HiSense products but will definitely think twice going forward before purchasing another product from the brand, after sales service is poor and agent customer service is even worse.
