Worst service ever from Hirsch's
on 12 November 2017 we went to Hirsch's Carnival to buy a new microwave. The salesman was very helpful and we ended up buying an LG Neochef convection microwave to the sum of R6000 from them with the promises of wonderful service from both LG and Hirsch's given to us. We were told what wonderful track record LG has regarding service and how quick they are plus that the microwave has a function that you can find out what it wrong with it via an app on your cell phone should anything ever go wrong so that the repair department can immediately know what part to have to fix it and that it will be done swiftly. At the beginning of February, the unit stops being able to warm up items and I contact Hirsch's to find out what to do. I was told that I need to bring the unit in and that it would take 2 days to be repaired, unless the part is not available, which is highly unlikely , then it would take a maximum of two weeks. I then tried the app I was told about but to no avail, because there is no such diagnostic available . I phoned Lg and the lady told me that I needed to send the unit in to Hirschs because doing the diagnostic over the phone would do me no good anyway. I then had to wait till the weekend to be able to take the unit in to Hirsch's. Days went by and I got absolutely zero feedback from Hirsch's and by the end of more than a week I phoned them myself. I was then told that the unit had already been repaired and that she had spoken to my fiance about it. I asked her how this was possible as he had not been in the country the whole week and still had not returned so there was no way that she could have spoken to him.. her reply was that her paperwork was a mess and that she had the wrong paperwork with her. she then found what she said is the correct paperwork and assured me that the unit had already been fixed we were just awaiting its arrival. This was on 23 February 2018. from there on both of us started receiving messages from Hirsch's regarding feedback of the repair of the microwave, none of the messages added up as one message would say the unit has been fixed awaiting return and the other would say we are busy assessing your unit for repair. We went to fetch the unit on 4 March 2018 upon where I asked the lady to please warm a cup of water in the unit because we live plus minus 40 mins away and I want to make sure the unit works. She refused due that the turntable was not in the unit as we were asked to take it home when we first took it in. I then told her to go get one from a display unit in a very stern voice as my patience was by this time wearing thin. The unit was tested, worked and we took it home. Three weeks later, the same thing happened again. The unit was not warming. we had to wait until the next week to take the unit back due to time constraints. on 1 Sept 2018 the unit was returned again. We specifically said to the Hirschs repair consultant as well as to the LG consultant that we do not want the unit back and we would like our money refunded as we had been told that they had 5 LG microwaves in the convection line returned for repairs recently. the lady said that she would put a request in and due to this fact thought that there would be no problem regarding the refund, but that it had to be sent in for assessment first. we were promised an answer that coming Thursday, which did not happen. on Saturday 7 April we received an sms saying the unit was still not assessed and that the credit request would be sent in the following monday. on 12 April another sms saying the unit is being assessed is received. on 16 April sms informing the case has been accelerated to head office, will be in contact. on 20 April sms saying unit will be repaired in coming week, credit request was "shot down". . I then received a phone call from Hirschs saying the unit will be repaired where I yet again said I do not want the unit back, I want a refund as I do not have anymore confidence in Hirsch's or the product. on Friday 20 April, I phone and ask to talk to the store manager. I then explained to me that my unit's magnatron keeps breaking and that this usually happens when the user puts silver items in the microwave...I promptly told him that I have never done such a thing and that this is not my first microwave and I do not appreciate him trying to put the blame of the broken unit on me. he quickly changed his tune and apologized. He then also informed me that I have to go look up the new CPA and then I would see that as long as LG does not credit them with another unit, then they do not have to refund or credit me for my unit and that I have to take the yet again repaired unit which is still not repaired. I then proceeded to explain to him that I have paid for a very expensive unit of which I have not had use of for almost 7 weeks due to repairs and that I do not have confidence in a product that has had so many units returned in such a short time as the consultant from Hirsch's had told me. ten minutes later he phones me back to say that the consultant had said no such thing and that it is impossible for a line to have that many repairs of the same unit. I then told him she did not say it was the exact same unit but across the convection line. It really seemed to me in these two phone calls with the manager that he was trying to discredit me and trying to place blame on me or the broken unit as well as for lying about what I was told. This morning, Hirsch's phoned me again 23 April saying that the spare part has now been received and that they will commence fixing the unit. I then again made it very clear that I do not want the unit and that I want my money back. the lady was very friendly and she did try to get the unit refunded, but she said that the store was not going to refund me. I have absolutely no confidence in Hirsch's as a supplier and I told her this, I also told her when she again said the supplier was not willing to refund the unit, that I did not buy the unit from the supplier, I bought it from them.. and that while these repairs have been ongoing, I not only do not have use of an item that I had paid a lot of money for and had to drive up and down wasting time and petrol, but the guarantee was running out as well...
