********** - Extended warranty What a waste of time and money ..

I purchased a 9kg white Smeg washing machine from your Struben’s Valley store on 16 July 2019. I also purchased an extended warranty on the machine at the same time. Recently I noticed that under the washing powder dispenser draw on the machine, that the paint/surface is crackling and appears to be starting to rust. I contacted Hirsch’s in terms of my extended warranty cover. They did send someone out to have a look at the machine but subsequently contacted me to say that the warranty doesn’t cover rust!! I expressed to the person who called me that I was not happy with the outcome and would like it to be taken further. Never had a response. I am not happy with this as an outcome for a number of reasons; 1) It’s a washing machine!! by nature it's going to get wet have soapy substances on it /in it . Surely it should be able to handle more than 2 ½ years ? 2) It‘s a SMEG – which is a high end brand with supposedly a quality reputation . This is certainly not living up to that product promise. I previously had a Samsung which serviced me for a number of years before having to be replaced- happy to go back to a brand that may be more superior actually. 3) The machine is just over 2 years old – I really don’t understand how it can be rusting already ? Its not as if its 10 years old and we live in a coastal, humid environment. 4) If you look at the condition of the machine you will see that it is still almost as new – I wipe it down after every wash and I regularly clean the soap and softener dispenser. Salesmen are very happy to sell you all these warranties etc but when you actually need to use the product there are a million reasons why your specific scenario is 'excluded' . I have email Hirsch's , followed up twice and to this date still have no formal response on my complaint . You wont see me again Hirsch's or SMEG for that matter - very very dissapointed
