Poor customer service
I am writing this to share my deepest disappointment from the treatment received from Hirsch's Strubens Valley. I purchaseda Microwave from Hirsch’s online in less than two weeks the microwave began to overheat from the base, causing the internal microwave plate to crack during normal use.
When I reported this issue, I was advised that instead of a refund or replacement, I could purchase a new plate at a discounted price. I find this response completely unacceptable for the following reasons:
The microwave is defective. The issue is not just the cracked plate, but the fact that the microwave itself is overheating — a serious functional and safety concern. Offering a discounted plate does not resolve the underlying problem, which may continue to damage any new plate placed inside.
Your explanation blaming user error is unreasonable. I have been told that the plate cracked because it was placed directly on the microwave base. However, this explanation is flawed, the heat is generated at the base of the microwave regardless of what is placed inside. Whether it is a microwave-safe plate or the original turntable, if the microwave is overheating, it will damage whatever is placed in that area.
I bought this product in good faith, expecting reliability and safety. That it became unsafe and damaged so quickly is unacceptable, and the proposed resolution fails to acknowledge or address the actual defect in the appliance. Now they are calling me threatening to dispose off it if I don't come and collect it. Even though i am telling them that I am awaiting a directive from Consumer services ombuds since I have lodged a complaint with them.
