Is it Hirschs company policy to hide defects from consumers?
Is it Hirschs company policy to hide defects from consumers? We have bought quite a few appliances at this particular store. Most recently an oven that we paid a substantial amount of money for. Oh by the way this one was on display and was the last in stock, it was sold to us as brand new and just a showpiece. After this oven was installed I tried a couple of times to work it, eventually I realized that the element at the top did not heat up at all. I then contacted the branch. They sent out a technician from AEG. He discovered that the element had been disconnected as would be the norm for an oven on display. We were never told this. The technician also discovered that one of the rails in the oven was broken. I was not even aware of this. You can clearly see it was patched with prestick or something to stay in place. I took it up with Hirschs who told me that it is my problem and I need to buy a new one as display units sold are fully covered for functional issues only. Not once were we told this when we bought the oven either. We paid R11879.99 for this oven. I have also been told that they won’t order this piece for me until I have paid for it, regardless of the fact that I am a good client who has spent a lot of money in their store oh and possibly even have enough points on my loyalty card to cover the rail, who knows. I have requested and invoice to put this and have been sent a copy of the invoice I paid for the oven by the manager. To date we have bought almost every single appliance in our house from this store. Needless to say we will never shop there again.
