Hirch's 30% deduction for returning goods.

On the 30 September 2017, I bought 3 SMEG items from Hirch's Strubensvalley, Smeg 60cm Glass Hob for R3 560.00, Smeg 60cm Stainless Steel Oven for R5 999.99 & 90cm Stainless Steel Extractor for R3 800.00, because I had intentions of renovating my kitchen. Soon after the purchase I experienced financial problems compelling me not to go ahead with the kitchen renovations. As a result I did not need the items anymore.

I went back to the store to try and return the items still sealed in boxes, the manager in charge did the calculations and told me that the store will have to deduct 30% percent of the total amount of the three items. I did not agree to such proposal therefore I was not assisted in that regard.

I tried to sell the items with the same amount that reflects on my invoices on websites such OLX and Gumtree but up to date I haven't had any luck.

May you kindly investigate this matter, as I fail to understand the grounds to justify such a severe punishment on a customer. 30% of the total amount (R13 349.99) of all three items is R4 005.00, that's a lot of money for someone who still had the right to return the items back to the store within a stipulated timeframe.
