Appalled

I am shocked and horrified. I have been informed by people whose children attend Highway how the teachers are not interested in the children. I know of a fair amount of people whose children attend this school and I have looked at their homework books. Work is not marked, their are no lines in between sentences or spelling words. The children are never given reading to do. It is appalling that Teachers could treat children in this way!!!! Teaching is a passion it is NOT JUST A JOB!!!! My biggest bug bear is that there are so many people out there that would love to be teachers and are passionate about teaching and they can't teach because the opportunity is not afforded to them. Then there are those teachers who are just teaching because they didn't know what else to do. COME ON Teachers, these children are our future and we need to care for them as much as we can. I listened to a learner who is in Grade 3 read. They can't read. NO SURPRISE!!!! considering they never get given reading. Teachers you have a job to do and that is to nurture the children and to give them the best education you can. Their parents are paying your salaries. Please I urge you to become the best teachers you can be. I would love to name and shame the particular teacher who has no concern for their class, but I won't as it could jeopardise the learners in her class. Highway College, I urge you to check and recheck and recheck again who you are employing and what the caliber of their teaching is like.
