A year later and no deposit refund

i have been waiting to get my deposit refund since December of 2018. Firstly, as a student I feel taken advantage of and disrespected. The company [Highlands Lofts] cut ties with Mafadi sometime mid-last year before the beginning of the second semester in July, yet when i ask for my deposit the first excuse i get is they are no longer in partnership with Mafadi. The previous caretaker Siboniso and the then agent Luvuyo both promised me that i would receive my deposit at the end of February 2019 after the first rent payment. After they both cut ties with Highlands, I began corresponding with Michael - who has not been of any help. I finally sent a message to the owner and it has been radio silence. This brings me to my second issue, Michael has made it seem like it is not their problem that i was not refunded my deposit at the end of lat year. Apparently I should give a damn that they are no longer working with the people I had a business relationship with [Siboniso and Luvuyo]. Lastly, as far as I am aware the owner of the business is liable for any and all debts that come with the business. I am honestly at my wits end. I don't know what's more debilitating between the ****roach infestation we had endure last year or this nonsense.
