HIC Underwriting Managers and Guardrisk Insurance ****

05 May 2020, 12:37 HIC SA and GUARDRISK Insurance are *******! HIC Underwriting Managers (Pty) Ltdwww.hicsa.co.za HIC Underwriting Managers (Pty) Ltd is an underwriter for a wide range of hospitality, industrial and commercial insurance products in South Africa. Guardriskguardrisk.co.za To employ industry experts with a passionate commitment to service excellence. HIC SA AND GUARDRISK - WHAT A FARCE We own a restaurant in Cape Town in the V&A Waterfront. We have been paying +_ R26 000 odd, monthly installments to HIC SA Hospitality Underwriting Managers for almost 20 years. This insurance was sold to us with the category stating in BIG BOLD LETTERS, that it covers for 'Business Interruption due to Infectious Disease / Pollution /Shark Attack/Additional Interruption Extension. - Loss, as insured by this section resulting in the interruption or interference with the Business - notifiable DISEASE occurring within a radius of 50 kilometers of the premisses' Well, guess what!!! HIC SA and GUARDRISK chose to pull OUT this clause and rewrite their policy on 20th April 2020, way after the national lockdown, and our claim and cry for help were duly submitted. We have sent every document required. They have continuously changed the goal post and wording and then simply taken out this clause stated above and NO LONGER cover such occurrences, We are not the only restaurant that they have done this too. HIC service is disgusting, non-existent They have not given an ounce of advice nor assisted with anything, other than to pass on the DEMEANING and INSULTING emails from the underwriters. What a complete farce. Do they think that all restauranteers are dumb? How blatantly dishonest can a company be? When this worldwide catastrophe was unimaginable, HIC and Guardrisk, graciously took our money for 20 YEARS, then in a major worldwide crisis, HIC, and Guardrisk just pulled out this clause and are basically saying NO. It is disgusting, especially under these unprecedented, scary times. When the world should be helping each other. If this is the case we would like our monthly installments including the interest, that we timeously paid, for the past 20 years, refunded with immediate effect, as both HIC and Guardrisk sold us insurance under false pretenses. They are certainly ready to take our money probably knowing they were never going to help out as it seems the underwriters can just change policies s they wish. - DESPICABLE -

RISK INSURANCE // HIC IS THE BIGGEST ****. ******* AND *****

I hope that everyone sees this disgusting and preposterous response received from Guardrisk, I am assuming just to shut me up?? It is a waste of computer space.

"Like all insurers, Guardrisk is heavily reliant on its reinsurance panel of local and international reinsurers. Essentially, the cover offered by our reinsurers determines the cover that we can extend to policyholders. Our international reinsurers have indicated that they will not renew reinsurance for pandemic related BI cover and therefore insurers will not be able to provide this cover going forward."

Oh, I have not heard a single word back from HIC since.

The future policy is not what we are discussing. We have not entertained that thought at all

I am referring to the current valid policy that was sold to me 20 years ago - which DEFINITELY has confirmed cover for Business Interruption due to Infectious Disease and which was 100% up to date and valid at the time of the claim. All and every document required has been sent. No one would have predicted such a ********** pandemic. Whilst the world is suffering Guardrisk and HIC are merrily saying NO to all their policyholders, rewording their policies as they wish, and of course, still taking innocent clients money. This is disgusting and ******** and should not be allowed. I encourage you all to read the other shocking, similar reviews pertaining to Guardrisk and HIC and the 0% non-existent service.

We do not accept your ludicrous response.
