The owner of this property is Siva Pillay. He has been running an industrial concern with heavy vehicles of 30tonnes in a residential and Agricultural zoned area. Objections were lodged but the municipality decided to grant the right to be industrial anyway. This went to tribunal in Durban where the tribunal chair made the decision in favour of the complainants and told Mr Pillay he had two weeks to cease industrial activity on this site. That was in March this year. We are still waiting for Hibiscus Municipality and Mr Zama to abide by the decision of the tribunal and enforce the removal of all heavy vehicles and the cessation of all heavy vehicle traffic from this property. Mr Pillay has app**** for an extension, which was granted, the extension has been and gone but Mr Pillay clearly refuses to abide by the decision of the tribunal, and thumbs his nose at the law.
