Poor workmanship and no accountability

We installed Hi Temp solar pipes on our roof and 3 years later they fell off the roof, taking out our gutters and our DSTV dish on the way down from the double story roof they were installed on. We have received totally unacceptable customer service from Hi Temp. Despite the fact that the pipes could have seriously injured one of our small children on their way down, there is zero apology from the company. Instead, they demanded a R963 upfront call out fee (which is ******ionate in itself) to come and inspect the damages. When I pointed out their 12 year warranty they advertise underneath the product on their website, they then sent me to hidden terms and conditions stating that there’s only a 12 month warranty on their workmanship, and hence we are liable for fixing their poor workmanship.

Companies like this should no longer be in business. We now have to pay to fix damages that their poor workmanship cost, and the system we paid R6000 for is in smashed pieces on the floor. We have given the company adequate time to reconsider their position and they have simply ignored us.

Good day Lisa,

This system was installed for you in 2013 making it 5 years old.
Hi Temp offers a 12 year warranty on solar panels against water leaks. Workmanship and installation materials has always been covered for 12 months only. Our terms and conditions are clear and are listed at the bottom of the website page as several other companies globally.
Note we've had extreme weather anomalies over August and September. This would have had an effect on the system installed on your roof.
In supplying this system to you we made no mention that should such an instance occur where panels come off the roof we will cover damages to property.
Your requests are well out of our warranty terms.
