Shocking service

I had to sort out some kerb rash on the wheels of my SRT, and with them being finished in Black Chrome, my usual port of call, Renew A Mag could not assist.

I then called Hi Tech Mag Repairs last week and they confirmed telephonically that they could do this specific finish.

I dropped the vehicle off on Monday Afternoon (Last week).

Vehicle was booked in by Raymond, who informed me that since they could not match the colour 100%, it was advisable that we do all 4 wheels. To which I agreed.

I received a call on Thursday informing me that the vehicle would be ready on Friday.

On friday morning I arrived and was presented with an invoice of R6800. I did not see the vehicle as it was in the wash bay.

After settling the invoice i was taken to the wash bay by Raymond, and immediately raised the point that the wheel colour was way off. It was silver grey instead of black chrome.

I was in a rush to drop the vehicle off at Sportech for some new front brakes, so i left my other car there and dropped the jeep off at sportech. When i got out of the jeep at sportech, being parked in the sun, i saw how badly off the wheel colour was.

Upon my return to Hi Tech to fetch my other car, i raised the issue, politely, with Raymond that the colour was way out.

Immediately he got all defensive saying "i told you we cannot match it!!".

I told him we not talking a shade or 2 off, we talking a totally different colour. I showed him pics of what the vehicle looked like before, and what it looked like now.

At this point, while I was asking him if we can please do something about this, he turned his back and walked away.

I responded to this by saying "typical south african **** service".

At this point, some lady behind the counter stood up, and started verbally abusing me that "people like you should learn to open our ears instead of arguing". Turned out that this is the owner, Quinton's wife.

I politely told her to rather walk to me and see the before/after pics instead of getting all upset, her reply was "i dont need to see your pictures to know whats going on".

At this point red mist set in, i walked out as im not the kind of person to get into a shouting match with a rude and arrogant woman.

I got home and sent them an email with pics.

Barely 30 minutes laterI got a phone call from Quinton. Extremely arrogant, and speaking to me like i was an idiot. Lets just say the conversation was not pleasant. In short they were not prepared to redo the work or refund me. So stuff me and the wheels that were not done correctly.

I sent another email, this time copying in the AA quality assured (of which they are a member) as well as the motor industry ombudsman and the RMI.

Got another arrogant email, filled with lies and inaccuracies as a reply.

At this point I was contacted by another wheel repair specialist who saw my rant on Facebook, who is currently doing my wheels over.

The yellow undercoat is the factory OEM undercoat.
The dark layer is the OEM paint. Unsanded and without undercoat/primer used.
The top (silver) layer is what they charged me R6800 to do.

Please note the difference in colour between top and original layers of paint.

According to Quinton to this day im talking ******* and the colour is the same.

The matter continued on their facebook page where I have been taunted and called a "clown". Well i guess im lucky because another person that complained about their poor service was told that "you're on drugs".

At this point in time, the only thing that will make me walk away from this is a refund.

I will not let this go until then. And i will post it on every forum and social media platform available to me.

Hi Tech mag repairs should be ashamed of their workmanship and attitude towards paying customers.
