Unreasonable Charges for simple repairs
This morning I needed new brakes fitted to my 1990 W124 Mercedes 230E.

They found that both the pads and disks needed replacement.
I was quoted a total of R2300 for the job.

As this was out of my price range, I settled for a set of brake pads only at R920.

While I was waiting, I went to the Midas store next door, and found that a set of brake pads cost R160, and that the disks would be R450.

After later discussions with the owner, he explained that those are his prices, and he does not care if I do not like it. He said that he had phoned Supa Quick, and that they would charge R950. However, he is the owner of that Supa Quick as well.

I phoned the Cape Town CBD branch of Hi-Q, and they quoted me R1200 for the job.
They told me that the labor was R350, and that the pads would be R850, because it is Ferrodo and they refuse to use anything else.

According to Midas, a pair of Ferrodo Pads are R570.

No matter how you look at this, this amounts to ****************, and I would like to be charged a fair price for 30 min worth of work.

The lady at Hi-Q head office was very helpful, and I would like to thank her for appologising on behalf of Hi-Q Bellville.
