Hi-Q - Damaged my car to my expense.

To Whom it may concern,

Last week Tuesday (21st May 2019) I took my Fiat Sienna into the HiQ on Umgeni road Stamford Hill. My car went in specifically to have the exhaust re-done. The kind gentleman that assisted me, Desmond, went through the different sections with me and prices as I was concerned about the cost. Whilst looking at my car, another gentleman that would be the man that worked on my car, saw an oil leak and told me that he would change a switch and sort it out for me. In doing so, I gave them the new part to change it. Once my car came down the ramp after everything had been "fixed" she would not start.

There was now 2 men later that afternoon, vigorously unplugging and plugging so many wires in and out my car to get her to start. After I had arranged myself a lift home and back to work the next morning, I heard that they had now towed my car to their "friends" at a Bosch Service Center over the road. Exactly 7 days later I am sitting with a R6850.00 bill from the service centre for my car, for all the damages to the wiring and sensors. I was told that during the plugging and unplugging of everything, oil had gotten into places it shouldn't have, damaging my cars ECU. I contacted Desmond at HiQ on Tuesday morning (04 June 2019) to ask him what I should do with the bill in order to get my car back. He said that he feels it is unfair and not their fault because they were doing me a "favour" and that on behalf of Hi-Q they would "generously" sponsor me R1000 towards the cost of the damage to my car and that they would scratch off the expenses I owed them for trying to fix my car. Besides the R2000 paid for my new exhaust. Please tell me what I should do with this bill going further. I do not feel that I am responsible but the hands that damaged my car.
