********* business practices by Hi-Q Tokai, Cape Town

Consumers should be aware of the ********* business practices of HI-Q TOKAI (Cape Town). On 27/12/2023 I called at Hi-Q Tokai to replace my vehicle's brake pads. The Hi-Q representative informed me that the work could be done within a hour. I asked for a quote and was informed that each brake pad/wheel would be R650.00 - i.e. ~R1,300.00 in total - which I accepted. Upon my return an hour later, I learnt that a staff member had not yet returned from sourcing the brake pads. Returning another hour later, I told was told the job would take another 15/20 minutes. To my surprise I was presented with an invoice for R3,000.00. I obviously protested. Following some arguments with the Assistant Manager, the bill was reduced to R1,350.00. On or about 04 March 2024, my vehicle's brake pads started screeching again whereupon I called at Hi-Q Claremont where, following an inspection of the brake pads, I was told in no uncertain terms that the pads had never been replaced. This time, I paid R2,300.00 to have the job done by a professional team. It appears that the Hi-Q team at Claremont did not seem surprised by the conduct of the Hi-Q TOKAI franchise. The franchisor, Hi-Q (Pty Ltd may wish to investigate the business practices at this franchise.
