Unwarranted advertising of discontinued stock

A search was done online for High Velocity type fans for a reasonable price. An online search found a Sansui 40cm High Velocity Fan Black at Hifi Corp for R299.00. Was R599.99. SKU model # ********** ********** 6135. Valid till 4 Feb 2018.

On Sunday, 14/01/2018 a drive was taken to Hi-Fi Corporation in Amanzimtoti where no such Fan was evident on the floor, just a Stainless Steel Version valued at R699.00. We enquired and a dumbstruck staff member went online to see what we were talking about. She found the add and enquired from another staff member if these fans were available. He subsequently indicated that there is no such stock in store. We asked to see the manager who then subsequently went through their system catalogue and noted that there is no such stock in the whole of KZN as it was discontinued. When we noted that the advert did not mention anything in that regard, nor did it mention that the stock is discontinued the Manager said that she only works for HIFI Corp and cannot take responsibility for and National adds being placed. The best she could do for us was offer us the fans on the floor for R599.00. Firstly, the manager was totally out of line with her attitude and comments. Secondly we still want to purchase at least two of these fans which according to the advert is Valid until the 4th of February 2018. Lastly, the service and or professionalism of the people we dealt with is absolutely astonishingly poor and requires some serious intervention from HQ. Also, this add is misleading beyond belief. What happened to the customer is always right and always comes first. What an appalling exercise in customer relations!!!! Companies should be held accountable for false and misleading advert placement and should compensate customers if mislead into traveling quite a distance just to find that "NO SUCH STOCK WAS EVER DELIVERED TO KZN STORES". DISGRACEFUL!!!!
