****py Christmas Holiday

Dear Management at hifi corp,

I Chris le Roux, have been a dedicated customer at this specific branch since 2008, when I started buying from you in Newcastle.

For many years I bought the following items only to mention but a few; hand held camcorder, canon camera, small cameras(cant remember the makes), dishwasher, tumble dryer, 2 washing machines, 6 televisions (2 were insurance claims from lightening),2 desktop computers(1 from same lightening claim), 4 normal hifi’s, 3 portable radios, 2 tablets, Lenovo laptop, hp laptop, voice recorders, 2 portable air cons, 4 vacuum cleaners, dvd player, blue ray dvd player, dstv explorer, 3 normal dstv decoders, chest deep freezer, 2 mini bar fridges, large double door hisense fridge freezer, large defy stand alone upright fridge, large stand alone upright freezer, 2 printers, 2 multifunctional printers(copy, fax, print), garmin, tom tom, motorola baby monitor, camera baby monitor, this excludes the ink cartridges I get on a monthly basis.

The list can go on, I have not even mentioned the cell phones yet!

Many of these items were purchased with extended warranties, which has helped in the past with a washing machine and a tumble drier.

My personal recent experience with a problem on a washing machine might lead to anyone reading this mail to personally commit suicide or worse.

On the 13th of December our trusty defy washing machine decided it will not spin to get out water in the clothes anymore. We then reported it to hi fi corp on the 14th of December in the morning at approximately 09:15, of which I asked the lady for proof, but she never had forms with her to fill out. She then took my details and stated that she will fill out all the information, and get a technician to us by Thursday the 15th December. I then stated to her to ensure this happens as the Friday is a public holiday and family is coming to visit us for the holidays. This happens every 4 or 5 years and previously our other washing machine also packed up while family was visiting in December, so this has happened to me before.

On Thursday 15th December I then arrived at hi fi corporation in Newcastle at 17:15 at asked the same consultant where is the technician that she promised me? She then shrugged her shoulders at me, this was extremely helpful to me at this specific moment. I then asked her how must I do washing this weekend for my family (2 parents 2 kids), and the rest of the family which is visiting (4 adults 5 kids). The shoulders shrugged again, this also did not solve the problem. I then asked her how can we resolve this problem. Well I give you three chances to guess what her response was? She then said that she would follow up with the call centre and try ensure a technician turns up.

The 16th was a public holiday, I then washed clothes by hand in the bath, the 17th and 18th was weekend, the 19th a technician arrived, whom took out a belt and said it was the main cause. A small belt, which from then to now which is the 28th of December has not been fitted.

I own a Toyota corolla and a Chev trailblazer, each vehicle when going in for a service takes not even the whole day, all is serviced and belts are changed within one day if it is required. Now a washing machine has a warn belt and a technician cannot get that little belt into that washing machine within a 10 day period. By the sound of it all the contract technicians that h ifi corp uses do keep many spares at all.

During this wonderful experience please note that we are still washing clothes in our bath every second day, this has literally brought me to my knees next to the bath. What a joke!

I then went in to hi fi corp on the 28th December , after just not getting any response from them at all, literally no response. I approached the manageress and she stated that she will make sure I get another washing machine by the end of day.

Then it happened, a call came through to my wife’s phone. The consultant then stated that I must come fetch the washing machine and bring them the old one. I then asked if he would like me to load it on the roof of one of my vehicles, as the previous machine was delivered by Rohil the sales consultant as that was the deal, I supported hi fi corp, and they made arrangements for delivery. I then got into my car and stormed through to your store, confronted the manager , the following outcome was achieved:

No delivery, you must pay as a client
Bring your old machine back to us
Can get a machine only for the price I paid for it back when it was bought

The machine I bought at that stage was R3699.00. at that stage it was the top of the range Defy 13kg toploader which was just under 3 years ago. Now this afternoon I was offered a pathetic excuse of a washing machine that could barely wash 2 towels, a face cloth, and maybe a g-string if we squash it in.

At the same time i am trying to sort out this problem with the manageress, she then vanished into thin air and not even the sales consultants could get hold of her.

Now the whole deal has changed as they sent a technician out to fix the washing machine on the 29th December.

I went the whole December holidays without a washing machine, washing by hand in a bath this includes the family that was visiting from East London in the cape which I almost never see as they live so far.

My family left yesterday because of the inconveniance and hi fi corp fixed the machine this morning only.

Hi fi corp has ruined my holiday and there is no regrets from anyone of them including the management.

No one has even picked up the phone to apologise for anything

Sad and pathetic service
