Poor service from HI-Fi Corp
Last year (2020) in February I bought some appliances for my house to the value of R11k at HiFi Corp(N1 City). Because of the Lockdown delays I only ended up moving to my new place in August 2020 and so that is when I unboxed the appliances. One of these appliances was a Hisense South Africa 49” FHD Smart TV to the value of R4999.99, and after switching it on for the first time, I realized that there was a line through the screen. It wasn’t major or anything, but it really was annoying. Unfortunately due to being busy and travelling often I only found time to return the TV about a month ago. So last week the HiFi Corp store calls, to inform me that Hisense South Africa is unable to fix the TV due to limitation of parts for that specific model. Therefore the store would be willing to offer me a voucher to buy another TV in store for the retail value of the TV I had. I then decided to check out what I could get and only to find that current TVs that they have retail at R4999.99 and are 43”non-Smart TVs. And so I went to the store and informed them that I wasn’t happy with the offer because this would essentially be a downgrade from what I had.
I then spoke with the store manager, expressing my concerns. Unfortunately the guy was not much help, he was bluntly rude and I could certainly tell he didn’t value me as his customer. So I sent an email last week to their Customer Service and Monday I got a call from the store informing me that they have managed to source the same model TV in a store in Bloemfontein, however I would be liable for getting the TV to Cape Town. I failed to understand why I would be liable for this cost and according to them this is the best offer they can give me, either than the voucher. I feel like I’m being played here, because had I been a new customer they would have sourced the TV at no cost to the customer and never have I ever heard of this arrangement from any other stores. I don’t even want money back I just want my TV. I'm not sure how to react now from this new offer, what can I do going forward? I refuse to pay R800 of delivery from store to store that they should be liable for.
