Paid for “In-Stock” Item – No Stock, No Refund Confirmation, No Accountability
I placed an online order with HiFi Corporation on 15 April 2026 for an ASUS VivoBook Ryzen 7 (16GB), which was clearly reflected as in stock at the time of purchase. I received full order confirmation and a tracking number.
On Saturday, I was contacted and informed that the item is in fact not available due to internal inventory/system issues. I declined an exchange and requested a refund.
What followed has been extremely disappointing:
* I made multiple follow-ups on Saturday requesting written refund confirmation * I was told there were “IT/system issues” and that confirmation would only be sent on Monday * I was assured I could purchase elsewhere, despite no formal refund confirmation being issued * By Monday, I had received no communication * I logged a formal complaint, which was escalated and assigned a reference number * I was told management would contact me — no one has
As of today, I still have:
* No refund confirmation * No clear refund timeline * No communication from management
This is unacceptable.
HiFi Corporation has effectively:
* Sold a product that was not actually available * Failed to communicate transparently * Failed to action a refund within a reasonable timeframe * Shifted the burden of their internal issues onto the customer
I have now been left without both the product and my funds, due entirely to their operational failures.
I am requesting immediate:
* Written confirmation of my refund * Expedited processing of the refund * Accountability for misleading stock availability
If this is not resolved urgently, I will be escalating the matter further through the Consumer Goods & Services Ombud and my financial institution.
