No laptop box no repair? ????

I made a layby of HP laptop combo (laptop bag, printer & mouse included) in Vaal Mall, took out the layby on the 28 April 2019. In July a few buttons stopped working, I went there with the receipts & I was told to bring the box so that I can be helped, without it there was nothing they could do. The box got smashed & I had to throw it away, I explained to them. So now I'm stuck with a non fully functional laptop, my exams are next month & I'm struggling do my programming assignments. Don't they have extra replacement boxes for such incidents? I'm really disappointed
