Hifi Corp is selling faulty devices and is refusing to take them back, saying that we must contact their manufacturer
We bought a Telefunken Tablet Device (Tel-1013GIQA) at Hi-Fi Corporations N1 City on the 19/01/2019 and we put a lock code on device for security reason and we never changed the code. Now, all of a sudden, the code is not working and the tablet refuses to do a hard reset. We took the unit back to the store and oh boy, we had the worst service, attitude and we had to deal with people who know nothing about customer service including the store manager. After waiting for 2 hours someone attempted to assist but still could not get the tablet to hard reset to factory default settings. Three of the store employees also attempted to do a hard reset on the tables and they also did not succeed as a result they ended up taking the unit to a store next door which is Incredible Connections. Incredible Connections also confirmed that the devices is not responding to a hard reset and that it should be booked in. One of the employees even pointed out that some of the tablets were not even accepting a sim card so the problem has to be with the unit. The store refuses to take the tablet to the manufacture (Telefunken) and is instructing us (consumer) to make contact with the manufacturer as it no longer their problem. Why is that the case though when they are the ones dealing with Manufacturers daily. The issue on the tablet is software related and that is that's the stores' problem and not a consumer problem. The store manager called us yesterday (17/03/2019) to tell us to pick up the unit as there is nothing they can do.
The most unfortunate part is that all of the Hifi Corp personnels who have called regrading this matter are telling that the issue is a software issue and that there's nothing they can do. In order to get this resolved I must contact their manufacturer. They have gone as far as asking me to contact the ombudsman.
