Hi Fi Corporation - false advertising!

On 12 February 2020 I bought an Univa oven from the Online Portal. It CLEARLY showed IN STOCK when the purchase was made. I opted for the free 14 day delivery option, as at the time, the need for the oven was not great. Payment was made and confirmation of payment received.

I waited patiently... On Wednesday, 4 March, I phoned the customer care on ***. Spoke to Brandon. He informed me that they (Hi Fi Corp) DOES NOT HAVE STOCK and is awaiting delivery, but that someone will be in contact on Thursday 5 March with a resolution. Friday, 6 March I phone again, this time I spoke to a Nicole. Once again I was told they are waiting for stock. I told her that it is completely unacceptable as the website indicated delivery possible in 14 days (WHICH IT STILL INDICATES!!!) as this is false advertising, misleading and deceptive. She informed that she is escalating it to Head Office and that I will have an answer by Monday 9 March.

Today, 10 March, I phone again. Once again spoke to Nicole with the same excuse as before...awaiting stock. I said to her that this is utterly shocking, as the manufacturer is situated in Midrand and we are in the West Rand. I requested to speak to a manager, and I was told that the manager is off-sick. Only one manager for such big corporation?? She advised me to phone ***. Which I did. Lady there could not assist and told me to phone ***to lay a formal complaint. Phoned - they don't even deal with Hi Fi Corp!

Phoned the call centre again (hope you are counting the amount of calls!). Spoke to Brandon again. Told me the same story - awaiting stock. Said to me he would escalate to Head Office. Told him but Nicole informed me on Friday that she was going to do that. WAS NEVER DONE ACCORDING TO BRANDON! Asked for a number at Head Office myself, to which I was told he cannot give me the details.

Now we are here... It is UTTERLY SHOCKING that HiFi corp misleads the public via their online portal. It has been a month for something that should've taken 14 days, and in the meantime they are ********ly getting interest on MY MONEY (as well as however many others!)

I am requesting that my money be returned, with interest, because of their unprofessional and absurd way of doing business.

I am drawing your attention to the Consumer Protection Act 68 of 2008, specifically:

Section 29 – requires the marketing of goods or services to be done in a manner that is not reasonably likely to imply a false or misleading representation concerning those goods or services and not misleading, ********** or deceptive in any way. Section 30 – an adverti*****t may not advertise goods or services as being available at a specified price in a manner that may result in consumers being misled or deceived in any respect relating to the actual availability of those goods or services at that advertised price – this is also known as “bait marketing”.

I am awaiting quick, reasonable responses soon!!!
